It is land of freebees; Strong hold of Dravidian politics. To put it simple, it is called ‘AMMA NADU’ by few. J Jayalalithaa is contesting in a bi-election. She is already back in action as Head of the state, Chief Minister of Tamil nadu.
Jaya is contesting in Radha Krishnan Nagar (RK Nagar). RK Nagar belong to north of Chennai. North Chennai is known for its slum and poor people. The Chief Minister in waiting per DMK Cadres, MK Stalin- Son of M Karunanidhi is a sitting MLA from a constituency in North Chennai, Kolatthoor. North Chennai is getting luckier.
Almost Jaya is unopposed, DMK – the prominent opposition party is not in the field voluntarily. DMDK – official opposition party in the state assembly is also in kind of same mood. INC – is not in. The only political party contest is from CPI, which believes the labor population can significantly help them at least in slicing the vote share.
For a decade, bi-elections in the state seem to be not fair. Every time, the ruling party is winning the election. Dravidian party sitting in the opposition chair tries to avoid contesting the polls citing the reason of mal-practices by the ruling party. This is not a good sign for democracy in the state.
Keeping all the allegations apart, it is good for Tamil Nadu to get an active chief minister than acting chief minister. Jayalalithaa would be active and with no doubt she would actually win the elections even without compliments to the voters.
DMK is still in downside. Jaya is still having advantage. Most believe the state would be active because of her come back. The government was very much passive in her absence.
ADMK is still has winning advantage. But 2016 may be a different ball game. Tamils are not easy to be judged.
AMMA is back.
