Return of Ram: Again in Politics for gain

Hindu Nationalist leaders of the largest democracy of the world, Indian Union think that it is again time to bring the mythical super hero Ram into politics to fetch gain.

Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for a Yatra (trip) to Ayodhya for building Ram temple in the election year. The Indian National Congress (INC) Unit of the state Uttar Pradesh – where Ayodhya is located doubts the timing.

The Pro-minority Samajwaty Party is ruling the state. The Government of the state has arrested VHP leaders. India’s Prime Opposition Party – Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP), has called it as right for the Hindu leaders to go on Yatra. BJP is famous for its saffron family where Hindu nationals belong to.

Babri_MasjidThe mercury did rise in state’s capital, Lucknow. The Chief of VHP, Ashok Singal was arrested in the airport of the capital on his arrival on 25th Aug 2013. The Yatra wants to build grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Hindu leaders believe Ram born in Ayodhya. They believe the exact spot where India’s epic hero was born, had temple. The Temple was demolished and a mosque (Babri Masjid) was built over it – per their understanding of mythology and history. There were Hindu Muslim riots in the name of Ram. Ram Mandir(Temple) issue was active until a decade back in the nation’s politics in the past.

The issue is back in action again. Mosque(Babri Masjid) was attacked when Mr. P V Narasimha Rao was prime minister of the nation. A Tomb of the mosque was damaged by Karsevaks ( Hindu work forces). The nation was divided into two at that point of time. The secular equation of the nation was changed. India had post mosque attacks too. Gujrat had Godhra riots in 2002. Hindu Muslim relations were spoiled.

Rama-AyodhyaQuoting Ramayan – Sethu Samuthiram Project was put on hold. The Project might have brought better livelihoods for the people of Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu government is against the project.  The reason is the bridge built by Ram, between India and Sri Lanka.

Ram is famous in Indian politics. He can stop a government plan. He can bring more seats to BJP. Ram is a super hero – he can toss anything.
